An exciting evening last night as we welcomed our first Warmshowers guest, Sheldon. Warmshowers is reciprocal couch surfing for cycle tourists. We signed up in the autumn as we hope to use it when we are travelling to enable us to stay with locals in other countries. We are delighted that we got to be hosts before heading off in May.
Sheldon is a young, enthusiastic New Zealander over in the UK and Ireland to find out more about organic market gardening ready to set up his own venture back down under. Today he cycled on to Aberdeen to catch the ferry up to Shetland where he will spend a month working on an organic farm at Sandness. He’s been cycle racing since he was a kid and was part of the NZ under 23 cycle squad. Amazingly, he is cycle touring on his lightweight racing wheels and is yet to break a spoke! We wish him well in all his future ventures. Who knows, we may be volunteering on his place during our trip.
